FROM BOTTLE TO BAG

First a bottle, then a big bag. With the new development of a woven bag made of 100% PET, Starlinger opens the possibility for a game changer in the market. Woven bags are so far typically made out of virgin PP. The use of virgin or recycled PET for the production of stretched tapes has vast advantages compared to PP:

· Same weight of the bag compared with the same strength of the bag

· Savings of raw material costs compared to PP

· Reduction of the CO2 footprint when using rPET

Besides these general advantages of PET compared to PP, the use of PET offers also the possibility for higher performance end products with higher fabric strength, high creep resistance, long term form stability, and many others.

As a worldwide market leader for machines for woven bags, woven fabric production, and rPET applications, Starlinger offers the complete expertise beginning from the input material to the final product including raw material drying & decontamination and iV lifting, tape extrusion, weaving, coating, printing, and converting machines for bag production. Starlinger is the turn key supplier from the beginning of the process chain until the final product. All necessary machinery is especially suited for PET and is installed in our technical center in Austria.

Besides Big Bags, PET tape fabric has, due to the outstanding properties of PET, huge advantages in heavy duty applications such as container bags, carpet backing, or hot fill applications. And, the PET fabric has a huge sustainability advantage. After discharge, the products can be recycled and the regranulate used as new – the cycle is closed.
