UPGRADE YOUR PET SHEET LINE

viscotec visconews sheet line deCON
viscotec has more than 40 deCON-installations worldwide in front of existing PET sheetextrusion lines to turn your conventional co-extrusion line into a fully food approved mono-sheet extrusion line – a bulletproof concept for upgrading existing lines to substantial market needs! Bottle to sheet is the most economic way for sheet production at present. Using a leading edge technology allows maximizing profit and 100 % consumer safety at the same time. Especially for meeting EFSA and FDA standards with existing extrusion lines, customers can upgrade their production step-by-step without downtimes and production losses during their day to day business.

By eliminating ABA structures the deCON enables customers to cut considerable production cost on virgin material, power consumption on extruders, and on screen-changes while being perfectly safe in terms of regulations. This is possible through the REAL first in - first out technology used in the process, the complete drying of the material (< 50 ppm) which is keeping the iV loss in extrusion at an absolute minimum, and the de-dusting during the heat-up stage. All this while maintaining a great deal of flexibility: bottle flakes, skeletal waste as well as agglomerate or a mixture thereof can be processed in the deCON. Even an iV increase is possible.

DECON IN FRONT OF SINGLE SCREW EXTRUDERS

Existing single-screw extrusion lines are usually running in operation with a conventional crystallizer-dryer combination. The following benefits can be generated by replacing the existing material preparation units with a deCON unit:

  • food grade without compromise – 100 % EFSA, FDA
  • cost savings due to more efficient drying
  • 10–15 % savings by using rPET instead of virgin PET
  • no maintenance on co-extruder
  • quality improvement caused by zero-dust flakes

Especially in combination with twinscrew extruders running wet PCR material, the deCON raises significant benefits – particularly when reusing post-industrial regrind, like edge trims or skeleton waste from thermoforming. Numerous installations place emphasis on hard facts:

  • food grade without compromise – 100 % EFSA, FDA
  • 10–30 % eminent cost savings by using rPET instead of virgin PET
  • no maintenance on co-extruder
  • 10–20 % increased output due to higher bulk density
  • quality improvement caused by zero-dust flakes

DECON IN FRONT OF MULTI-SCREW EXTRUDERS

Multi-screw extrusion solutions are supposed to process wet PCR material. Multi-screw extruders are faced with similar problems like twin-screw when it comes to intrinsic viscosity. Therefore, the benefits by adding a deCON are similar:

  • food grade without compromise – 100 % EFSA, FDA
  • 10–30 % eminent cost savings by using rPET instead of virgin PET
  • 10–20 % increased output due to higher bulk density
  • quality improvement caused by zero-dust flakes

“… the implementation of the deCON made our extrusion process much more stable and easier to handle. We see the good results straight after the die and put these down to much less contamination in the material and the excellent drying results.”

“… the deCON 50 pushes our complete process on a very high level of sustainability. To reuse any kind of PET on our extrusion lines in a safe way is a major advantage for Hordijk.”
