Lacerta and Starlinger viscotec. Growing together.

The cooperation of viscotec and Lacerta started in 2016 with the installation of a viscoSHEET extrusion line and other technology that makes Lacerta products FDA approved for food contact. The relationship between the two companies has developed into a trustworthy, long-term partnership. According to Mory Lotfi, Principal at Lacerta Group, “Continuous investment in machinery and technology is necessary to offer innovative solutions in the short and long term. Our investment in technology enables recycling of plastic that in the past was often discarded. Using state of the art recycling technology helps reduce costs, making the use of recycled plastic competitive with virgin resins.”

For this purpose, Lacerta has relied on viscotec technology for many years.

The company currently runs four viscoSHEET extrusion lines for the in-house production of rPET sheet, and three deCON units. The deCON technology processes post-consumer and post-industrial material to make it FDA approved for food contact. State-of-the-art thermoforming lines are then used to convert the sheet into customized packaging solutions. In January 2023, Lacerta acquired the production facility and other assets of Portage Plastics Corporation, a Wisconsin-based thermoformed packaging products manufacturer, expanding services in the Midwest and West markets. Lacerta’s growth story continues.

Using recycled materials helps us conserve energy. Processing Post Consumer Regrind requires less energy and produces less emissions compared to virgin PET.
